Andrew Edwards

Andrew Edwards is a Senior Research Scientist at Simula Research Laboratory

He completed his masters and doctoral research at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he used experimental approaches to understand how alterations in cellular electrophysiology protect the heart against ischaemia-reperfusion injury. He then moved to the Bioengineering department at University of California San Diego (UCSD) to pursue multiscale mathematical modelling of the heart.

In Oslo, Andy combines these experimental and mathematical approaches to understand the basic mechanisms of cardiac disease, with a special emphasis on multiscale problems in electrophysiology. In addition to his research interests, Andrew (Andy) coordinates the SUURPh  programme in computational biology and medicine, which is a PhD training programme involving collaboration among groups at Simula, the University of Oslo, and UCSD.
