Drude Fugelseth

Professor Drude Fugelseth earned her Medical Degree (MD) at the University of Oslo in 1981, PhD (Dr. Med.) at the University of Oslo in 2000, and is a certified specialist in Pediatrics ince  1991.

She is a Senior Consultant in Neonatology at the Department of Neonatal Intensive Care at Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål, and a Professor in Pediatrics (Neonatology) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo.

The main topics of interest are neonatology with focus on the newborn circulation and myocardial function. As a leader of the research group "NeoCHIBS" (Neonatal Circulation, Heart, Infection and Brain Study Group), there are ongoing projects in newborns /preterm babies on myocardial function (Tissue Doppler Imaging), macro- and microcirculation (ultrasound, laser Doppler, video microscopy and spectroscopy), and studies of the cerebral circulation and MR in neonates treated with therapeutic hypothermia after birth asphyxia.
