Kristian Valen-Sendstad

Kristian Valen-Sendstad is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Simula Research Laboratory.

Kristian is a research scientist in the Computational Cardiac Modeling Department at Simula Research Laboratory, Norway. During the first stages of his scientific career, Kristian's work focused around development of open-source numerical algorithms for solving the Navier-Stokes equations that governs fluid flow.

The developed fluid flow solvers were later used to study blood flow in sick balloon-shaped blood vessels inside the brain (aneurysms) that can burst and cause stroke. Over the years Kristian has been working on investigating the extent and role of turbulent-like flows in the cardiovascular system. Kristian has primarily had impact on the scientific fields of vascular biology, biomechanics and neuroradiology.
