Nuno Almeida

Nuno Almeida is a portuguese young researcher in biomedical engineering.
Since 2013 he has been pursuing his industrial Ph.D. studies within the USART consortium between KU Leuven and GE Vingmed Ultrasound (Norway).

He obtained the M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho (UMinho - Portugal) in 2011, with a dissertation work conducted and defended at the Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven - Belgium) in medical image processing.

In 2012 he was a Research Fellow at the University of Porto (FEUP - Portugal), conducting research on medical instrumentation for health-monitoring.

His current work is focused on real-time segmentation of heart cavities from cardiac ultrasound, with particular interest in the left-atrium and the potential use of ultrasound imaging to guide catheter interventions such as EP ablation.
