Anna Isotta Castrini is medical doctor and certified specialist in Cardiology. She has collaborated with the research group from 2016 and joined as PhD fellow from 2019, supervised by associated professor Kristina H. Haugaa and co-supervisor Dr. Øyvind Lie and Dr. Mette-Elise Estensen. The main topic of Dr. Castrini’s PhD project is the prevention of sudden cardiac death in patients with genetic cardiomyopathies. In particular, her focus is to explore the effect of pregnancy on the prognosis of women affected by genetic cardiomyopathies.
With the research group, Dr. Castrini has previously published a paper exploring the effect of pregnancy on the prognosis of women with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Castrini is now working on a joined paper with Brigham and Women Hospital and Harvard medical school, about the effect of pregnancy in women with dilated cardiomyopathy. Further, her PhD project will focus on the mechanical effect of exercise in genetic cardiomyopathies with the final aim to implemented computational models.
