Eivind Westrum Aabel got his medical degree at Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary in 2014. He performed his internship period at Sykehuset Innlandet HF Gjøvik in 2016 before he continued as a resident at the Department of Internal Medicine until 2019. He joined the Department of Cardiology, Rikshospitalet in 2019 and started as a PhD fellow in 2020. His research focus on prediction risk of life threatening arrhythmic events in susceptible individuals, particularly in patients with arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse and mitral annulus disjunction. His main supervisor is associate professor Kristina H. Haugaa and his co-supervisor is dr. Øyvind Lie. He also works at the outpatient clinic for cardiogenetics at Rikshospitalet.
